Why Can't I Get Normal Sick?

Seriously, I haven't been normal sick since I was a kid. I barely sneeze, cough, or need to blow my nose when I don't feel well. I can never pinpoint my ailments. This may have something to do with the fact that I think I've had every single strain of strep throat and 103-fever mania as a child. There may be no other strain of anything left in the air for me to catch. When I think back to my sick days as a kid it's a blur of pink medicine that my mom kept in the fridge (aka Amoxicillin) and cheeseburgers from McDonald's (wait, is that odd? My mom always let me eat McDonald's when I was home sick. I was not a chicken soup kinda girl.)

This might sound like a good problem to have. That is until you actually don't feel well and have no idea how to explain your ailments. There's always a lot of "uhm, sorry?" from my husband. And, forget doctors. Every weird ailment I've seeked treatment for has been met with a lot of scrunched foreheads.
"Weird"
"Gurgly"
"Not right"
"Off"
Last year's ailment of the the year was a week or two of breathing pain. I swear I couldn't take a deep breath. Normal people would have this symptom along with a little coughing or sneezing, but really my only symptom was "can't breathe."

I spent all weekend with a weird belly ailment that began on Thursday. The oddest part is I still get hungry so I have no idea what's going on with me. I'm probably just a lunatic.

Should be a thrilling week. Anyone else suffer from non-symptom sickness?

  1. How weird!! Last year around Christmas I had major stomach pains about every 5-10 minutes for about two days. No other symptoms. I waited it out and it got better. Hope your odd ailment is better.

  2. Thanks! Definitely a little better today. Maybe we had the same "non-symptom stomach ache."
